Remembrance, flowers and a big Thank You for Ellie Burch, Vice Chair and active member, passed November 7th, 2011.

Executive Committee Report:

Chair –  Opening for Vice Chair to be filled at next meeting of the 1st CD. No gender or county balance required per bylaws.
Vice Chair – vacant
Treasurer - absent due to family emergency.  funds now reside w DPO.
Secretary - moved to accept the minutes of the past meeting. Accepted unanomously.

Committee Reports

Rules: Wayne Kinney - working on Platform and Convention process.  New bylaw on how to elect members  to SCC standing committees as reported in August.

Platform Convention   April 20 - 22, 2012
Friday eve - training for facilitators,  Saturday AM - Legislative Agenda
98 current items will be narrowed to 12
State Central Committee -  December 3rd, 2011 -   PCC, Willowcreek Campus
Platform and Res leaders will be in attendance for input on Planks.
all submissions must be in electronic format.  December 31st,2011 deadline.
State Fair and Public Events Committee - we need to elect members  

#1 Priority now until January 31, 2012  is to elect Suzanne Bonamici.  


We will win if we get out the vote.

#2 Priority - CD Nominating Convention: June 2nd, 2012.  
                    Elect 9 delegates to the DNC and 61 to the state nominating convention.
                 
                  - State Nominating Convention: June 16, 2012    Elect 84 delegates to DNC
22 more than in the past because we are one of the best performing small states
           5 alternates and 14 automatic delegates who must declare 15 days after convention

March 1, 2012   all rules, filings and locations will be on the website. There will be one document for all the steps - all will be filed online.
May 17th, 2012 -  the filing deadline for delegate to State or National Convention

Remember “It is a campaign” so if you want to win you must campaign.

What can the 1st CD do to win the election on January 31. Ballots out January 13th.
1.  We must win
2.  Talk to everyone
“It is good governance vs those who want to destroy government.”
3.  The only election in January - spotlight will be on Oregon - set the tone - prove to the nation - we will ask the entire state to participate.  Theresa@dpo.org
4.  We are all on one team now.  One candidate, one congresswoman

Messaging Committee:  To meet following todays meeting.
OLD Business:  none

New Business:   Carl Dominey presented a draft letter to all Democrats at the Federal level requesting that they fully support the jobs program of the President and in the event the Super Committee fails to reach agreement, that the Republicans be held to thier agreement to cut Military spending.

Passed in concept with unanomous support. A committee of Carl Dominey, Carmen Dunningham and Linda Hutton to finalize the letter at the end of today’s meeting.

Clatsop County Report:
Report that they successfuly recalled and elected several county commissioners.
Chili Dinner is tonight with Senators Suzanne Bonamici and Betsy Johnson, and Secretary or State Kate Brown.
Nov 20 - movie on fracking

Columbia County Report:
Rural Organizing Project held a successful candidate debate for CD 1
Dessert and Coffee events are being held.  

Multnomah County Report:
Celsi Dinner is February 17th
Full steam ahead to elect Suzanne Bonamici to CD 1

Washington County Report:
Neuberger Dinner is November 19th
Will ramp up Neighborhood Leader program to 300 NL’s each contacting 35 for the Bonamici campaign.

Monday night with Common Cause at Linfield
ROP round table discussion will be held
Wednesday - Dems Think Tank with Frank Nelson at the golf course
Thursday - general meeting with Ted Wheeler + Occupy Wall Street
Friday - candlelight vigil at US Bank in support Occupy Wall Street
Nov 28 Wake up Call “Movie Night” on Privitization of Prisons ( largest growing corporation in the country)

Next Meeting to be in Columbia County - February 11, 2012
